The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that he and members of his team were attacked by suspected political thugs in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
Sowore disclosed the incident in a brief statement shared on his official Facebook page on Friday, saying the attack occurred inside a restaurant.
“Thugs just attacked us inside a restaurant in Ado Ekiti,” the activist wrote.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts to reach the Ekiti State Police Command for confirmation of the alleged incident were unsuccessful.
The reported attack comes amid growing political activities and preparations for the 2027 general elections, with concerns over increasing cases of violence involving political actors across the country.
Security agencies have repeatedly warned politicians and their supporters against engaging in violence before, during and after the elections.
