Okorocha Accuses Uzodinma of Seeking Vice-Presidential Ticket Under Ahmad Lawan in 2022

Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has accused Governor Hope Uzodinma of aspiring to become the vice-presidential running mate to former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, during the 2022 All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary.

Okorocha made the allegation on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television, shortly after he was declared the authentic winner of the APC senatorial primary for Imo West.

The former governor claimed that Uzodinma had consistently sought to occupy multiple political positions, alleging that the governor had attempted to secure the vice-presidential ticket alongside Lawan during the APC presidential contest in 2022.

“Hope wants to be everything,” Okorocha said.

He also criticised Uzodinma’s leadership of Imo State, claiming that residents were dissatisfied with his administration.

Okorocha further accused the governor of failing to address insecurity in the state, alleging that violent incidents had increased under his leadership.

Comparing Uzodinma’s handling of insecurity with his own tenure as governor, Okorocha claimed that he managed similar security challenges without bloodshed.

The former governor also urged Uzodinma to accept the outcome of the APC senatorial primary rather than challenge the result through an appeal.

“If I were him, let him forget going to appeal. Let him just accept this in good faith because he did not win an election,” he said.

Okorocha maintained that the primary election result should not be overturned through what he described as an attempt by an individual to manipulate the process.

He said his comments were intended to draw attention to what he considered poor leadership and political practices under Uzodinma’s administration.
