The Presidency has described a letter from United States President Donald Trump to President Bola Tinubu as a strong endorsement of the progress recorded by the current administration, particularly in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communications, Daniel Bwala, made the remarks on Wednesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
His comments followed a letter in which President Trump commended Tinubu for what he described as his “decisive leadership” and efforts to improve security across the country.
Reacting to the development, Bwala said the letter serves as evidence that the administration’s policies and reforms are receiving international recognition.
“Facts speak for themselves. The letter is further proof of the progress we are making,” he said.
He added that while the message from the U.S. President was encouraging, it would not alter the administration’s commitment to governance.
“Does it mean if there was no letter, we would stop? No. We are already engaging and communicating with them,” Bwala stated.
Drawing an analogy, he said: “If you are in a relationship with a lady and, because of that relationship, you write a letter encouraging her, or she writes a letter encouraging you, it strengthens the relationship, but it does not stop your commitment.”
According to Bwala, the correspondence underscores growing international confidence in the Tinubu administration’s efforts and reinforces its resolve to continue pursuing its policy objectives.
