Opposition ‘Jobless,’ Focused on Politics Over Nigerians’ Welfare — Bwala

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has described the opposition as “jobless,” accusing its members of concentrating on politics instead of issues affecting Nigerians.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Bwala made the remarks while reacting to a letter from United States President Donald Trump commending President Tinubu’s leadership.

According to Bwala, Nigerians are more concerned about the government’s performance in critical sectors such as the economy, education, and security than political criticism from opposition figures.

“The opposition is jobless. Allow the opposition to keep lazying about. Nigerians want to hear what is happening to their lives,” he said.

He maintained that the Tinubu administration has recorded significant progress, particularly in improving security and strengthening Nigeria’s relationship with the United States.

Bwala was reacting to a letter dated July 6, 2026, in which President Trump reportedly praised Tinubu’s decisive leadership in tackling terrorism and insecurity, especially attacks on Christian communities. The letter was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Highlighting the significance of the development, Bwala said the Tinubu administration had achieved an unprecedented level of cooperation with the United States.

“This is the first time in Nigeria’s history that the leadership of President Tinubu has brought about such a strong collaboration with the US government. The letter applauding the President of Nigeria for deeper cooperation is something Nigerians deserve to know,” he said.

He expressed disappointment that the development had received little attention in the media, arguing that Nigerians should be informed about what he described as the administration’s achievements on the international stage.

Bwala added that the government’s focus remains on delivering tangible improvements in the lives of Nigerians through economic reforms, educational development, and enhanced security.
