Nigeria Grants Rwandans 30-Day Visa-Free Entry

0

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially implemented a 30-day visa exemption policy for citizens of Rwanda, marking a significant step toward strengthening diplomatic ties and promoting seamless movement across Africa.

The policy, announced by the Nigeria Immigration Service, follows a directive by Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the Africa CEO Forum held in Kigali.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Service disclosed that all modalities for the immediate implementation of the directive had been concluded across the country’s international airports, land borders, and seaports.

Under the new arrangement, Rwandan nationals can now enter Nigeria without a visa and stay for up to 30 days for lawful activities such as tourism, business, and official engagements.

The Immigration Service, however, clarified that any Rwandan citizen intending to remain in Nigeria beyond the approved period must obtain the appropriate visa either through a Nigerian Embassy or High Commission abroad, or via the country’s e-Visa platform.

According to the statement, the reciprocal agreement mirrors a similar visa-free gesture earlier extended to Nigerians by the Government of Rwanda.

The Service noted that the initiative reflects the growing diplomatic and bilateral relationship between both countries, while also advancing intra-African mobility, tourism, trade, and economic cooperation in line with continental integration goals.

“The Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to facilitating safe, orderly, and lawful migration in accordance with international best practices and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement added.
