OSOGBO — Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that he is fully prepared for the August 15 governorship election, expressing confidence that he will emerge victorious.
Speaking to journalists after meeting with members of the state workforce at the OHIS Hall in Osogbo, the governor said he was under no pressure, attributing his confidence to the support of God and the people of Osun State.
“I am not under pressure because I have God on my side. I also have the people of Osun on my side. I am fully prepared,” Adeleke said.
The governor urged eligible voters to come out en masse on election day, stressing the importance of exercising their democratic rights peacefully and without intimidation.
“I am urging our people in Osun not to be afraid. This is a democracy, and Nigeria has chosen to practise democracy. They should come out on August 15 and vote. That is their civic duty,” he added.
Meanwhile, organised labour in the state reaffirmed its support for the Adeleke administration, citing its commitment to workers’ welfare.
Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Osun State, Dr. Christopher Arapasopo, commended the governor for fulfilling promises made to workers and pensioners, describing the administration’s welfare policies as commendable.
“Our governor has fulfilled his promises to workers. He has prioritised the welfare of workers and pensioners, and we appreciate those efforts,” Arapasopo said.
He also encouraged workers across the state to participate peacefully in the forthcoming election.
Similarly, the Osun State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Adediran Olalekan, praised the administration’s welfare initiatives, saying workers remained appreciative of the government’s efforts and would continue to support it.
