EFCC Arrests Ex-Skye Bank Chairman Tunde Ayeni Over Alleged ₦36.5bn, $30m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested prominent businessman and former chairman of Skye Bank Plc, Tunde Ayeni, in connection with an alleged multi-billion naira fraud.

Ayeni was reportedly taken into custody in Abuja and is currently being held by the anti-graft agency as investigations intensify.

According to preliminary findings, the EFCC is probing the alleged diversion and misappropriation of funds totaling approximately ₦36.5 billion and $30 million. The funds are said to have been obtained from Polaris Bank Plc through a network of companies allegedly linked to the former bank chairman.

Sources within the commission indicate that the investigation is ongoing, with more details expected to emerge in the coming days.

This development adds to the growing list of high-profile financial crime cases being handled by the EFCC, as the agency continues its crackdown on corruption and financial misconduct across the country.
