A Canada-based Nigerian woman, Prophetess Ezinne Nwanorue, has sparked widespread backlash on social media after publicly celebrating the death of her mother-in-law, describing the deceased as a “wicked witch” in a controversial Facebook post.

Ezinne shared the funeral poster of her late mother-in-law, Comfort Chika Nwanorue, on Monday, accompanying it with a series of inflammatory remarks in which she claimed the deceased deserved to “rest in pieces in hell.” She further alleged that her mother-in-law and other unnamed individuals had worked against her destiny and vowed that those she described as witches and evil people would face divine judgment.

In the post, Ezinne claimed she was speaking “from the place of my office as a prophetess of God Almighty,” adding that God had empowered her to overcome those she believed had sought to harm her.

The post quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions online. While a few supporters defended her claims, many social media users condemned her for celebrating the death of a family member and questioned the appropriateness of her statements as a Christian leader.

The incident has also revived public interest in the couple’s previously publicized marital disputes.

Ezinne and her husband, Franklin Chimaobim Nwanorue, previously made headlines after she reportedly required him to take a public oath before relocating to Canada. In a viral video, Franklin declared that if he ever cheated on his wife after arriving in Canada, he should die, saying the declaration was made in obedience to what Ezinne described as God’s instruction.

Despite the oath, Ezinne later alleged on Facebook that her husband had been unfaithful and had engaged in an extramarital affair after moving to Canada.

Her latest post has further intensified public discussion surrounding the family’s ongoing conflict.

As of the time of this report, neither Franklin Nwanorue nor any other member of the Nwanorue family has publicly responded to Ezinne’s latest remarks.
