More than 100 suspected “imported voters” allegedly brought into Osun State ahead of the governorship election have been arrested by security operatives.
The voters, who were reportedly in possession of newly issued Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), were allegedly camped at the residence of Hon. Abiola Ibrahim, a member of the Accord Party.
A video circulating on social media showed the alleged voters being questioned by security operatives.
During the interrogation, Ibrahim reportedly admitted that the group had been staying at his residence ahead of the election, allegedly to cast their ballots for the Accord Party.
Ibrahim is said to be a member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing the Irewole-Isokan Constituency.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged mobilisation of the voters, including how they obtained their PVCs and whether they are registered voters in the state, remain unclear.
The Osun State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the reported arrests as of the time of filing this report.
