African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to disqualify President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from contesting the 2027 presidential election.
Atiku, alongside other plaintiffs, is challenging Tinubu’s eligibility over an alleged forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate reportedly submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The plaintiffs claim that the certificate bears the name “Tinubu Bola Adekunle,” which they say differs from the President’s name, “Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
They are asking the court to determine whether the alleged discrepancy in the NYSC certificate affects Tinubu’s constitutional qualification to contest the 2027 presidential election.
The suit also challenges certain provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 relating to the qualification and eligibility of presidential candidates.
The plaintiffs are seeking judicial clarification on the implications of the alleged certificate discrepancy and whether it constitutes grounds for disqualification from the 2027 presidential race.
