The All Progressives Congress (APC) has uploaded the nomination details of 13 governorship candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) candidate nomination portal, as the ruling party intensifies efforts to meet the August 8 deadline for the submission of governorship and State House of Assembly candidates.
A senior APC official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to comment publicly, disclosed that the party’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department has successfully processed the details of 13 governorship candidates since the submission window opened on July 18.
According to the source, the candidates whose nominations have been uploaded include Dr. Obafemi Hamzat (Lagos), Solomon Adeola (Ogun), Umar Bago (Niger), Ahmed Wadada (Nasarawa), Yakubu Danladi (Kwara), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Ahmed Galadima (Adamawa), and Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), among others.
The source revealed that the nomination documents of five additional governorship candidates are currently being processed, expressing confidence that the party will complete the upload of all 28 governorship candidates and their running mates before INEC’s August 8 deadline.
However, the official noted that the APC is yet to begin uploading the nomination details of its State House of Assembly candidates due to technical issues affecting the INEC nomination portal.
“Our ICT team has already scanned and prepared all the necessary documents for immediate upload once the portal issues are resolved,” the source said.
Reacting to the development, APC National Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, assured that the party remains committed to completing the nomination process within the stipulated timeline.
He urged the party’s candidates to remain loyal to the APC’s policies and campaign on the Renewed Hope agenda.
“The party is campaigning on the mantra of Renewed Hope, and our candidates must renew the hope of the people by delivering democratic dividends. They should work for the progress of the people and contribute to making Nigeria a better place,” Ibrahim said.
He also acknowledged concerns arising from the emergence of some candidates but expressed optimism that the party’s reconciliation committee would resolve all internal grievances before the 2027 general elections.
“The reconciliation committee is actively engaging all stakeholders, and we are confident that every aggrieved member will be reconciled so the party can move forward together,” he added.
Under INEC’s timetable, political parties are expected to submit the nomination forms of governorship and State House of Assembly candidates between July 18 and August 8, 2026. The electoral commission is scheduled to publish the personal particulars of governorship and State House of Assembly candidates on August 29.
