The Lagos State Government has approved and released the harmonised academic calendar for the 2026/2027 school session for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, following extensive consultations with key stakeholders in the education sector coordinated by the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA).
According to the commissioner, the calendar was adopted after two separate stakeholders’ meetings, where participants reviewed and agreed on the key academic activities and timelines for the new session.
The approved timetable outlines school resumption dates, mid-term breaks, examination periods and holidays, providing a unified framework to guide schools, teachers, parents and students throughout the academic year.
Alli-Balogun said the harmonised calendar reflects the Lagos State Government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector through effective planning, coordination and the delivery of quality learning across public and private schools.
He urged all schools in the state to strictly comply with the approved calendar to ensure uniformity and the seamless implementation of academic activities.
The commissioner also encouraged parents, guardians, school administrators and other stakeholders to access the full 2026/2027 academic calendar on the official website of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) and across the Lagos State Government’s official digital platforms.
