US Blacklists Nigerian, Others Over Alleged ISIS Terror Financing Network

BREAKING: US removes Nigeria from religious violators’ list

The United States government has designated a Nigerian national alongside several individuals and entities across Europe, the Middle East and West Africa for allegedly financing terrorist activities linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The designation was announced in a statement issued by Thomas Pigott, spokesperson for the US Department of State, who said the action targets a global network accused of facilitating financial transactions and logistical support for the terrorist group.

According to the statement, three individuals and six entities were sanctioned for their alleged roles in moving funds and resources used to support ISIS operations worldwide.

Pigott stated that the network operates across France, Syria, Türkiye and Nigeria, serving as a key channel for cross-border financial transfers linked to the terrorist organization.

“Under the leadership of President Trump, the United States is dismantling ISIS’s ability to finance terrorism around the world. We are cutting off the financial lifelines that enable ISIS to fund attacks, support its regional affiliates, and threaten civilians, including religious minorities,” he said.

Among those designated is a France-based facilitator accused of providing information on the use of explosives to ISIS supporters. Also listed is a Syria-based operative alleged to have used cryptocurrency to transfer funds on behalf of ISIS affiliates in multiple countries, including the United States.

The statement further identified a Nigeria-based money exchanger whose businesses allegedly served as channels for financing ISIS activities.

The US government said the sanctions form part of ongoing international efforts to disrupt and dismantle financial networks that sustain terrorist organizations and threaten global security.

The latest move underscores Washington’s continued focus on targeting the financial infrastructure supporting ISIS and its affiliates across different regions of the world.
