President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will chair the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the January 2027 elections, while former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has been appointed Director-General.

The composition of the campaign council was announced on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as vice chairmen of the council, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as secretary.

In a message to members of the council, Tinubu urged them to work tirelessly to secure victory for the APC, saying the party would enter the campaign season with a record of achievements to present to Nigerians.

The President said his administration had successfully navigated the country through a difficult economic period and was now laying the foundation for Nigerians to benefit from its reforms.

“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” Tinubu said, urging campaign officials to showcase the administration’s achievements and counter efforts to reverse its policies.

APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and the President’s Special Adviser on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala-Usman, were named deputy and assistant secretaries of the council respectively.

The President will be supported by a team of senior advisers, including former APC Interim National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; Chief Segun Osoba; former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed Deputy Directors-General for the South and North. They will work alongside Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Senate President Jibril Barau.

Former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, will oversee mobilisation as Deputy Director-General, while Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will serve as Deputy Director-General for Administration.

House Committee on Finance Chairman, James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the APC’s 2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.

The campaign structure also includes dedicated directorates for legal affairs, media and strategic communication, election planning and new media.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, will serve as Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.

Dele Alake will lead the campaign’s five-member spokesperson team, with Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda serving as other spokespersons.

Tinubu directed the heads of the various campaign directorates to expand their mobilisation beyond formally appointed members of the council and engage the wider APC structure.

He said the campaign would require the collective efforts of party members across the country as the APC prepares to defend its mandate in the January 2027 elections.
