Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described President Bola Tinubu as a leader deeply committed to the welfare of Nigerians, citing the administration’s ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja as evidence of that commitment.
Wike made the remarks on Tuesday during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of Collector Road CO1, linking the Nile University area to Ring Road III, as well as the extension of the Body of Benchers Road in Abuja.
The minister noted that the president had earlier in the day flagged off the construction of the Southern Parkway before proceeding to inaugurate the new road project, a development he said demonstrates Tinubu’s dedication to improving the lives of residents of the Federal Capital Territory.
“Mr President, this morning you flagged off the construction of the Southern Parkway, and this afternoon you have again made time to be with us for the flag-off of the Arterial Road CO1 from the Nile University area to Ring Road III. This clearly shows your commitment to the welfare of citizens and residents of Abuja,” Wike said.
He also revealed that the extension of the Body of Benchers Road was among the projects completed and commissioned as part of activities marking Tinubu’s third year in office.
According to the minister, the road project was initiated following concerns raised by the Body of Benchers over persistent traffic congestion experienced during Call-to-Bar ceremonies and other official activities in the area.
Wike explained that the Chairman of the Body of Benchers had appealed to the FCT Administration to provide improved road access to ease movement around the legal institutions located in the district.
He expressed confidence that the new road, upon completion, would significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve accessibility for legal practitioners, judges, and visitors attending events at the Body of Benchers complex and other nearby institutions.
The project forms part of the FCT Administration’s broader infrastructure development agenda aimed at improving transportation networks and supporting the rapid growth of the nation’s capital.
