The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has identified political elites occupying the Presidential Villa and state government houses as a major part of Nigeria’s problems.
Adebayo made the remarks while unveiling his manifesto for the 2027 presidential election, where he blamed poor leadership for the country’s challenges since 1999.
According to him, electing the right leadership in 2027 would enable Nigeria to tackle insecurity, including banditry, terrorism and kidnapping, within four years.
“It is the men in the Villa, government houses, that are the problem of Nigeria,” Adebayo said.
He further pledged that an SDP-led government would defeat insecurity within four years, claiming that a change of government through the ballot could significantly reduce the activities of bandits.
“We are promising that in four years we will defeat insecurity. When you use your vote in 2027 to change government, you have a chance of defeating 60 percent of bandits,” he said.
Adebayo also challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to participate in a public debate ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
“The first challenge is for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to come out to debate,” he said.
