Anthony Ehilebo, Special Adviser on Media and Digital Media Communication to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has described the meeting between Makinde and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as a significant political development that will be remembered in Nigeria’s history.
Obi on Monday attended the inauguration of Makinde’s presidential campaign office in Abuja, where he called for greater unity among political leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Channels Television on Tuesday, Ehilebo said the large turnout at the event demonstrated the level of support and goodwill Makinde has built during his tenure as governor of Oyo State.
According to him, many Nigerians would be satisfied if their state governors could replicate even half of Makinde’s achievements in Oyo State.
He said, “You can see the massive turnout, and that goes to show the kind of love that Seyi Makinde has developed over the period that he has been governor of Oyo State.
“People from other states have wished that their state governors could have performed even 50 percent of what Makinde has done in Oyo State.
“Other presidential candidates coming to the opening of your campaign hub is indeed something that would go into our history books as a political phenomenon.”
Ehilebo also recalled that he had previously expressed support for Makinde’s presidential ambition, noting that even a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) once referenced the post while congratulating him on his appointment.
He said the presence of Obi at the campaign office inauguration demonstrated how political relationships and events can evolve over time.
The meeting between Makinde and Obi has continued to attract attention as political parties and prominent figures begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
