The Rivers State Government has dismissed reports of a disagreement between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and members of the state House of Assembly over the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, said in a statement on Wednesday that Fubara was not at loggerheads with the lawmakers, but was working closely with them in the interest of Rivers residents.
According to the statement, the 2026 budget proposal has already been presented to the House of Assembly and is currently undergoing the normal legislative process.
The government expressed confidence that the lawmakers would consider and pass the appropriation bill in due course.
It also said Rivers State had endured difficult periods in the past and was not willing to be drawn into another round of controversies capable of undermining peace and development.
The state government consequently urged those promoting what it described as negative narratives to desist from such actions, stressing that peace and harmony were essential for the continued development of Rivers State.
