Ogun ADC Chairman Faces Probe Demand Over Alleged Financial Misconduct, Abuse of Office

Concerned leaders and stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State have petitioned the party’s national leadership, calling for an urgent investigation into allegations of financial misconduct, abuse of office, and unethical conduct against the state chairman, Otunba Femi Patrick Soluade.

In a petition dated June 20, 2026, and addressed to the National Chairman of the party, the stakeholders accused Soluade of mismanaging party funds, unlawfully altering account signatories, intimidating party members, and assaulting his deputy.

The petition, signed by Hudu Idris, Ismaila Adejumon, Temitope Adebayo, and Rashidat Yekin, stated that the action was motivated by their commitment to accountability, transparency, justice, discipline, and adherence to the party’s constitution.

Soluade assumed office as Acting Chairman of the Ogun State chapter in December 2025 following the voluntary resignation of the former acting chairman, Itunu Abioro.

According to the petitioners, there are growing concerns among party members regarding the management and utilization of funds belonging to the Ogun State chapter. They alleged that party resources may not have been administered in line with established financial procedures and regulations.

The stakeholders consequently requested a comprehensive audit of all financial transactions carried out since Soluade assumed office.

They also alleged that some authorized signatories to the party’s account were removed without due consultation, approval, or authorization from relevant party organs, describing such action as a potential breach of internal financial controls.

The petition further urged the national leadership to obtain relevant account mandate documents, signatory change requests, and bank records from Sterling Bank to ascertain the true state of affairs.

Beyond financial concerns, the petitioners accused the chairman of fostering a culture of intimidation, abuse of office, and high-handedness, which they claimed had created divisions within the party and weakened confidence among members across the state.

The group therefore called on the National Chairman and the National Working Committee (NWC) to establish an independent investigative panel to examine all allegations contained in the petition. They also demanded a forensic audit of the party’s state account and a thorough investigation into claims of abuse of office and unethical conduct.

Responding to the allegations, Soluade dismissed the claims as false, misleading, and politically motivated.

The ADC chairman denied allegations of assaulting his deputy, insisting that there was no such incident and that any disagreement between them had long been resolved.

“What they are referring to was merely a misunderstanding at the time, and it was resolved. I have personally been funding the party and leveraging my goodwill to sustain its activities. The few individuals who contributed to the party are leaders who joined through my efforts,” he said.

Soluade further maintained that all financial transactions conducted under his leadership were properly documented and accounted for.

“The inflow and outflow of funds and all expenditures have records. At the appropriate time, I will make them available to the national leadership if required. I am confident that I will be cleared of all allegations. My integrity remains intact and cannot be dragged through the mud,” he added.

As of the time of filing this report, the national leadership of the ADC had yet to publicly respond to the petition.
