Jose Mourinho has revealed that his deep affection for Real Madrid played a major role in his decision to return to the Spanish giants as head coach.
The 63-year-old has been officially unveiled as Real Madrid manager ahead of the 2026/27 season, marking the beginning of his second spell at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Mourinho previously managed Los Blancos between 2010 and 2013, a period during which he guided the club to La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup titles.
The Portuguese tactician now returns to a side that has endured two consecutive trophyless campaigns, with expectations high that he can restore the club to its winning ways.
Despite the challenge ahead, Mourinho insists his love for Real Madrid was the driving force behind his comeback.
“I love Real Madrid, and this is the reason why I’m coming back. I don’t deny it,” Mourinho told reporters.
His return has already generated excitement among supporters, who will be hoping the experienced manager can lead the club back to domestic and European success.
