Former National Youth Leader of the Labour Party, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, has criticised the party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, accusing him of failing to build enduring political structures and abandoning loyal supporters.
Speaking during an interview on TVC News, Ahanotu alleged that Obi’s political journey reflects a pattern of moving from one political platform to another without investing in the growth and sustainability of party structures.
According to him, effective leadership goes beyond personal popularity and electoral appeal, requiring the deliberate development of institutions and the empowerment of followers.
“Peter Obi is not a builder of men; he abandons his own people,” Ahanotu said, arguing that true political leadership should be measured by the ability to nurture individuals and create structures capable of surviving beyond a leader’s personal influence.
The former Labour Party chieftain further questioned Obi’s commitment to political parties, citing his movement across different political platforms over the years.
Ahanotu maintained that lasting political relevance is achieved through institution-building and the cultivation of loyal structures, rather than dependence on individual charisma and public support.
His remarks come amid ongoing political realignments and discussions surrounding the future of opposition politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
