Flick Breaks Silence on Lamine Yamal’s Reported Unhappiness at Barcelona

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has dismissed concerns over winger Lamine Yamal’s mood at the club, explaining that the young star was dealing with a minor physical issue after being substituted in the team’s recent victory over Elche.

Flick addressed the situation during his pre-match press conference ahead of Barcelona’s La Liga clash with Athletic Club on Thursday.

Reports had suggested that Yamal was unhappy after being taken off during Sunday’s win over Elche, prompting questions about his relationship with the club and his current state of mind.

However, Flick played down the speculation, revealing that the Spain international had been experiencing a headache.

“He had a minor issue, a headache. Lamine is a genius, it’s understandable,” Flick told reporters.

The Barcelona boss also pointed out that Yamal had only recently returned from a three-week break and had trained for just a few days, meaning he was not yet at his physical peak.

“It’s normal that he wants to play. When you’re a true champion, you always strive to win the next title,” Flick added.

Flick said Yamal’s competitive mentality reflects the attitude within the Barcelona squad, with the team determined to challenge for a third consecutive La Liga title.

“That’s his attitude. Every player on the team is hungry to win a third consecutive league title. We’re ready, and we will fight for it,” he said.
