Ekiti PDP Rejects Makinde 2027 Mobilisation Report, Accuses Governor of Betrayal

The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied reports that it is mobilising grassroots support for the presidential ambition of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The report had also claimed that the party was working with the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) as part of a mobilisation effort for the election.

However, in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti PDP chairman, Lanre Omolase, described the report as false, fabricated and unauthorised.

Omolase said the publication did not originate from the recognised leadership of the party in the state, alleging that it was intended to create confusion over the PDP’s political position.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Ekiti State PDP, under my leadership hereby distance itself completely from both the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and any purported presidential mobilisation project for Governor Seyi Makinde.

“No such mobilisation has been authorised, inaugurated or undertaken by the Ekiti State PDP leadership,” he said.

The chairman also criticised Makinde, accusing the Oyo State governor of betrayal and declaring that the Ekiti PDP would not support his reported presidential ambition.

“Most importantly, Governor Seyi Makinde has never stopped to demonstrate treachery and we in the PDP in Ekiti State will not have anything to do with such a character who is only stable in betrayal,” Omolase stated.

The Ekiti PDP urged its members, supporters and the general public to disregard the report and reject political statements made in the name of the party without authorisation from its recognised leadership.

The party also warned individuals and groups against using its name or structure to advance personal political interests.

It reaffirmed its commitment to internal discipline, due process and ensuring that only duly authorised officials speak on behalf of the party.

The PDP further called on media organisations and the public to verify political claims before attributing positions to the Ekiti chapter, particularly those relating to the 2027 presidential election.
