Former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has reportedly been arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu while preparing to board a chartered flight to Abuja.
According to reports, the arrest was carried out on Wednesday at the airport. Sources quoted by Premium Times said Nnaji is expected to be handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for further interrogation.
The report added that the ICPC had been investigating the former minister following allegations that he forged his academic certificates. The anti-corruption agency had reportedly been tracking Nnaji since his resignation from office last year as part of its ongoing investigation.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Nnaji nor the ICPC has issued an official statement regarding the arrest or the allegations.
