Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has reacted to his failure to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or, expressing confidence that he will eventually claim football’s most prestigious individual award.
The Spain international shared the message on Instagram after finishing third in the voting, behind England captain Harry Kane and France captain Kylian Mbappé.
Despite missing out on the top prize, Yamal maintained that the result would not discourage him from pursuing his ambition, insisting that he remained confident in the path he was building.
“It [Ballon d’Or] will come; good things take time. I trust the path I am building. My time will come,” he wrote.
The Barcelona star also congratulated Kane on winning the award.
Yamal’s reaction reflects his determination to continue developing his career and competing at the highest level, despite the disappointment of missing out on the individual honour.
The young winger has continued to attract attention for his performances for Barcelona and Spain, with expectations remaining high about his prospects of winning the Ballon d’Or in the coming years.
