Campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has threatened to institute a N10 billion lawsuit against the lawmaker representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, over alleged defamation and injurious falsehood.
In a letter dated August 12, 2026, written by Olajengbesi’s lawyer, Hammed Lasisi, the campaign spokesman accused Fadahunsi of making malicious and defamatory statements about him during television interviews on Viable TV on July 2 and Channels Television’s Politics Today on August 11.
The letter demanded an immediate retraction of the alleged defamatory statements and an unequivocal public apology within 24 hours, warning that legal action would follow if the senator failed to comply.
According to the letter, Fadahunsi had during the Viable TV interview questioned Olajengbesi’s identity and claimed that he was “not even from the same Ijebu-Jesha” but “from somewhere in Ogun State.”
The senator was also accused of alleging that Olajengbesi used “thugs, Eiye and Aye” in his political activities.
Olajengbesi’s lawyer said the statements questioned his client’s identity and origin while also allegedly portraying him as someone who sponsors or deploys members of the Eiye and Aye cult groups.
The lawyer further cited comments allegedly made by Fadahunsi during his August 11 appearance on Politics Today, where the senator reportedly described the late Ajayi Aderogba, popularly known as Rogba, as an “Eiye man sponsored by Barr. Olajengbesi” who was allegedly terrorising people in the area.
The letter argued that the statement conveyed the impression that Olajengbesi sponsors, finances or supports cult groups and deploys their members to terrorise members of the public.
Olajengbesi denied the allegations, describing them as false, defamatory and damaging to his personal, professional and political reputation.
He also denied ever sponsoring, financing, supporting or patronising any cult group or its members for criminal, political or unlawful activities. He further stated that he had never authorised anyone to terrorise, intimidate or attack members of the public on his behalf.
His lawyer demanded that Fadahunsi retract the statements through the same media platforms where they were allegedly published and issue an unreserved public apology through national and social media platforms.
The letter warned that failure to comply within 24 hours would result in legal proceedings seeking N10 billion in general and aggravated damages for defamation and injurious falsehood.
