Senator Sani Musa, representing Niger East Senatorial District, has urged security agencies to arrest anyone linked to terrorism—no matter their rank, influence, or family ties.
Speaking during Wednesday’s plenary, Musa stressed that the worsening security situation in Nigeria demands decisive, non-partisan action. He insisted that even his own relatives should not be spared if found culpable.
“I don’t want politics in this issue. If my brother or my son is involved, he should be picked up. The law should take its course,” he declared.
The lawmaker voiced frustration over the rapid spread of insecurity across the country, warning that what began in one local government has now engulfed multiple states.
“No state is immune. They were arrested with AK-47s and later released with the same AK-47s—no gunshots, no proper arrest, nothing. And then the next day, we wake up to fresh attacks. Why should it end like that?” he queried.
Musa also challenged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to take a firm stand, assuring him of the Senate’s backing.
“Mr President, it is on you as our leader to tackle this issue head-on, without fear or favour. We will stand by you. We should not be playing politics with people’s lives. We must own our responsibilities,” he said.
His remarks add to the growing calls for stronger security measures as Nigeria continues to grapple with rising incidents of terrorism and banditry.
