Kidnap Rumour False, Malicious — Adelabu Defends Aide Over Sister’s Abduction

Former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed reports linking his Personal Assistant, Ajiboye Sangogade, to the recent abduction of his younger sister and her twin children, describing the allegations as false, baseless and malicious.

Adelabu made the clarification in a statement issued on Wednesday through his media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro.

It was gathered that Mrs. Busayo Adegoke, one of Adelabu’s younger sisters, alongside her twin children, was abducted by kidnappers in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, last Wednesday.

The victims, however, regained their freedom on Saturday following a coordinated rescue operation by security agencies.

Amid the development, rumours emerged on social media alleging that Sangogade had supplied information to the kidnappers and played a role in the abduction.

Reacting to the claims, Adelabu strongly refuted the allegations, insisting that his aide had no connection whatsoever to the incident.

According to him, those behind the rumours are attempting to tarnish the reputation of innocent individuals and distract attention from more pressing matters.

“It has come to our notice that some individuals, who are enemies of progress and the development of Oyo State, are circulating rumours that the Personal Assistant to Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Ajiboye Sangogade, orchestrated the kidnapping of Chief Adelabu’s sister and nephews in Ibadan.

“We categorically reject this claim because it is entirely false and without any basis,” the statement read.

Adelabu further urged members of the public to disregard the allegations and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary tension and damaging reputations.

He reaffirmed his confidence in Sangogade, stressing that there is no evidence linking him to the abduction.
