NNPCL Slashes Petrol Price to ₦890/Litre in Abuja Amid Dangote Refinery Adjustment

ABUJA — The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at its retail outlets in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, from ₦945 to ₦890 per litre — a drop of ₦55.

Checks by DAILY POST on Thursday confirmed the new price at several NNPCL stations, including the mega station at Danziyal Plaza, Central Area, as well as outlets in Wuse Zone 4, Wuse Zone 6, and other locations across the capital city.

“It was reduced to ₦890 per litre this afternoon, down from ₦945,” a fuel attendant at one of the stations disclosed anonymously.

The price cut comes on the heels of adjustments by other marketers. Earlier on Thursday, MRS Empire Energy revised its pump price to ₦885 and ₦946 per litre, down from ₦910 and ₦955 per litre, respectively.

Industry sources link the current wave of downward reviews to Dangote Refinery’s recent ex-depot price slash by ₦30 — from ₦850 to ₦820 per litre — as well as movements in global crude oil prices.

The development offers a slight relief to motorists and consumers, who have been grappling with high fuel costs since the removal of subsidy last year.
