Yahaya Bello Wins APC Kogi Central Senatorial Primary Amid Eligibility Speculations

0

Immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress primary election for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The primary election, held on Monday, saw Bello defeat two other aspirants — the party’s Diaspora Secretary, Momoh Obaro, and Ibrahim Yakubu Adoke.

Bello’s victory comes amid days of political tension and intense speculation within party circles over his participation in the contest. Rumours had suggested that issues surrounding his screening process could affect his eligibility for the primary.

Despite the uncertainty trailing his candidacy, the former governor secured the party’s ticket, positioning himself as the APC’s flagbearer for the Kogi Central Senatorial district in the 2027 elections.

Party officials are yet to release the detailed breakdown of the votes cast during the exercise.
