The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described the paramount ruler of Emohua Kingdom, Eze Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse, as a “political bulldozer” in Rivers State.
Wike made the remark on Wednesday during the commissioning of the Federal High Court Judges’ Quarters in Abuja, where the monarch was present among dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, the former Rivers State governor acknowledged Awuse’s influence in his political journey, noting that the traditional ruler played a foundational role in his rise to prominence.
“I recognize those who laid the foundation for some of us to use as a ladder to climb to where we are today,” Wike said.
Referring to the monarch, he added: “My dear brother, the political bulldozer of Rivers State — even though he has abandoned politics and is now a traditional ruler.”
Wike further remarked humorously on Awuse’s nickname, saying: “They call him sergeant, but where he got the name from, I do not know.”
The minister emphasized his respect for individuals who contributed to his political development, while noting that Awuse has since stepped away from active politics following his ascension to traditional leadership.
