
Veteran Nigerian poet and literary icon, Chief Alabi Ogundepo, has died at the age of 84.
Ogundepo, a native of Saki in Oyo State, reportedly died on Monday.
His death was announced by his family in the early hours of Tuesday.
In a statement, Dupe Ogundepo-Falana described the deceased as an icon whose contributions to Nigerian literature would continue to inspire generations.
The family said funeral arrangements and other details would be announced in due course.
It also appealed to the public to respect the family’s privacy and remember them in prayers as they mourn the loss.
Ogundepo’s death marks the passing of one of Nigeria’s veteran voices in poetry and literary expression.
