Veteran journalist and publisher of Eagle Online, Dotun Oladipo, has died.
Oladipo reportedly died on Tuesday after he suddenly fell ill at his office.
His death was confirmed by Danlami Nmodu, President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), on Tuesday night.
In a message shared on the guild’s WhatsApp platform, Nmodu announced that Oladipo, who was the Emeritus President of GOCOP, had passed away.
“May his soul rest in peace. Amen,” he wrote.
The General Secretary of the Innovative Media Partners Cooperative Multipurpose Society (IMPCMS), Nkanu Egbe, also confirmed the news on Wednesday morning, describing Oladipo’s death as “devastating.”
Egbe said the executive committee would provide further information on funeral arrangements, condolence visits and interim leadership matters when available.
Oladipo was a guest analyst on TVC’s popular programme, Journalist Hangout, where he regularly offered commentary on national issues.
Before founding Eagle Online, he worked with the Nigerian Tribune and Nigerian Compass. He also served as Politics Editor at PUNCH Newspapers.
Until his death, Oladipo was President of IMPCMS and Emeritus President of GOCOP.
