The German Embassy in Nigeria has warned Nigerians applying for visas against relying on individuals who claim to have special knowledge or access to the German visa application process.
In a recent statement, the embassy urged visa applicants to be cautious of information provided by so-called “visa agents” and encouraged them to verify all visa-related information directly with the German mission.
“Beware of misinformation. Save yourself the hassle & just ask us directly,” the embassy said.
The mission also invited Nigerians to share claims they had heard from visa agents, promising to address some of the issues in upcoming posts.
Reaffirming its position, the embassy stated: “We DO NOT WORK with any ‘Visa Agents’!”
The German mission further explained that applicants do not need intermediaries to access official information, as details on visa requirements and application procedures are publicly available through its official channels.
The warning is particularly relevant to Nigerians seeking to travel to Germany for tourism, education, employment and family reunification, many of whom rely on third parties for assistance with their applications.
The embassy cautioned applicants to be wary of anyone claiming to represent the German Embassy or suggesting they have special influence over visa decisions.
Applicants are advised to rely on official information from the German Missions in Nigeria when preparing and submitting their visa applications.
