Former Big Brother Naija housemate Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has denied allegations that she defrauded a woman of N5 million, days after her arrest by the police in Lagos.
Tacha was arrested at her residence on Sunday, August 30, after reportedly failing to honour police invitations concerning the allegation.
Speaking in an interview on Thursday, the reality TV star said the case stemmed from claims made online by a social media user, Olajide, known as @joph007_.
According to Tacha, the social media user accused her of collecting N5 million from a woman who was seeking financial assistance for her husband’s kidney transplant.
Tacha, however, maintained that she had never spoken to the woman in question and described the allegations as false.
“I have never spoken to the woman in question before,” she said. “Somebody just came online and accused me of collecting N5 million from a woman who is seeking financial assistance for her sick husband. Meanwhile, I have never spoken to the woman before.”
She also accused the social media user of making derogatory comments about her, including referring to her as “Ashawo” and making other remarks about her character.
Tacha said the allegations gained momentum after they went viral on social media, eventually leading to police involvement.
She explained that her legal team initially pursued the matter through a civil process before it escalated into a criminal investigation.
The reality star maintained that the N5 million fraud allegation was completely untrue and said she is cooperating with the authorities to clear her name.
