The investigative hearing of the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee probing the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) resumed on Wednesday without the appearance of the council’s alleged Director-General, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi.
The committee, chaired by Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, had on Monday directed the Inspector-General of Police to ensure Adeyemi’s appearance before the panel by noon on Wednesday to address issues arising from the ongoing investigation.
According to Gagdi, the alleged Director-General’s testimony is considered crucial, as several individuals, institutions, and government agencies have been mentioned during previous hearings, making it necessary for him to respond to the allegations and clarify the claims.
Despite the directive, Adeyemi failed to appear when proceedings resumed, and the committee continued its investigation in his absence.
The panel is investigating the circumstances surrounding the establishment and operations of the yet-to-be-established Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, as well as how the body was reportedly included in the Federal Government’s Budget Framework.
