PRP Accuses Tinubu Government of Failing to Protect Nigerians Amid Killings, Abductions

The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over persistent killings and abductions across Nigeria, accusing the Federal Government of failing to protect lives and property.

The party, in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, described the worsening security situation as evidence of what it called the government’s incompetence and lack of concern for affected communities.

The PRP urged Nigerians to speak out against the violence and demand urgent measures to address the persistent attacks.

It identified Kwara, Niger, Benue, Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Borno, Plateau and Yobe as some of the states grappling with insecurity, alleging that armed groups and other criminal elements continued to attack communities with inadequate resistance.

The party accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration of relying on public statements and promises rather than implementing effective measures to protect vulnerable communities.

“The scale of the killings and abductions of helpless citizens and the rising impunity of their tormentors suggests that Nigerians live in a lawless country,” the statement said.

The PRP also expressed concern over the burden on military personnel and local volunteers involved in efforts to confront armed groups, warning that persistent violence had disrupted livelihoods and worsened the economic conditions of millions of Nigerians.

It further alleged that the government was spending excessive public funds on securing political support while citizens remained exposed to security threats, although it did not provide evidence to substantiate the claim.

The party maintained that Nigerians should not have to wait until the end of Tinubu’s tenure in May 2027 before demanding significant improvements in security.

Baba-Ahmed said the President remained responsible for fulfilling his constitutional obligations to protect the lives and welfare of citizens.

“President Tinubu still has four months to go before his defeat. He has a responsibility to live up to his oath to protect the lives and welfare of Nigerians,” he said.

The PRP chairman called on the President to take responsibility for addressing the security crisis and ensure that urgent measures were implemented to prevent further killings and abductions.

The party reiterated its demand for decisive government action to restore safety in affected communities and protect Nigerians from further attacks.
