Former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has declared that only courageous politicians who are genuinely committed to serving the people—not pursuing personal interests—have what it takes to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Tambuwal made the remarks on Wednesday while welcoming the immediate past Chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area, Isa Salihu Kalenjeni, into the ADC following his resignation from office and defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He urged politicians who believe they are working in the interest of the people and for the greater good to openly identify with the ADC, regardless of any pressure or intimidation.
“Anyone who believes that what he is doing is for the people and for the sake of God, not for personal gain, should have the courage to leave any political party and join the ADC,” Tambuwal said.
The former governor alleged that the APC is intimidating politicians considering defection to the ADC while also attempting to sow division within the opposition party.
According to him, the ruling party now views the ADC as its biggest political threat ahead of future elections.
Tambuwal also criticised the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the country’s worsening security situation, arguing that many Nigerians have become disillusioned with the APC due to persistent insecurity.
He commended Kalenjeni for resigning from his position and joining the ADC without attaching any conditions, describing the move as a significant sacrifice and a demonstration of commitment to the party’s ideals.
