Former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing recent developments within the party in Delta State as the reason for his exit.

In a statement issued on Thursday, May 22, 2026, through his Media Adviser, Sunday Areh, the former senator said extensive consultations with political associates, supporters, and stakeholders informed his decision to leave the ruling party.

According to Omo-Agege, the current situation within the APC in Delta State no longer provides a platform through which he can effectively pursue the interests of the people of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria at large.

In his resignation letter addressed to the APC Chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, the former lawmaker stated: “I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria.”

Omo-Agege, who represented Delta Central Senatorial District and served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, expressed appreciation to the APC for the opportunities given to him during his time in the party.

He also requested that his name be removed from all APC membership records and official communication platforms.

Despite his departure from the party, the former senator assured his supporters of his continued commitment to political engagement and the development of Delta Central and the country, pledging to remain active in public service outside the APC.
