ADC Suspends Presidential Primary Result Collation for Eid-el-Kabir Celebration

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has postponed the collation of results from its nationwide presidential primary election, citing the Eid-el-Kabir celebration and logistical challenges affecting some party officials.

Chairman of the Presidential Primary Election Committee, Chief Ikechi Emenike, announced the development late Tuesday, stating that the exercise would resume on Wednesday by 8 p.m.

According to Emenike, the decision was taken to allow Muslim members of the party participate fully in the Sallah festivities, while also giving enough time for returning officers delayed by flight challenges to arrive in Abuja.

“We are postponing the collation to allow our brothers and sisters celebrating Sallah participate in the religious activities and to enable returning officers who had flight challenges to arrive in Abuja later today,” he said.

Emenike disclosed that results from 24 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had already been received before the postponement, while collation from the remaining states would continue after the break.

The states whose results have been announced include Borno, Kebbi, Anambra, Abia, Ekiti, Ondo, Gombe, Oyo, Imo, Yobe, Nasarawa, Enugu, Benue, Osun, Adamawa and Kogi.

Others are Kano, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, Zamfara and the FCT.

The ADC presidential primary is expected to continue amid growing anticipation over the party’s choice of candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
