Okorocha Hails Court Judgment Against Uzodimma, Says ‘Justice Has Finally Prevailed’

Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has welcomed a Federal High Court judgment ordering Governor Hope Uzodimma to stop presenting himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Imo West Senatorial District.

The court also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish Okorocha’s name as the authentic APC candidate for the senatorial district.

Speaking after the judgment on Thursday, Okorocha said justice had finally prevailed, commending the judiciary for what he described as its commitment to fairness and justice.

He compared the dispute over the Imo West senatorial ticket to an alleged electoral irregularity in which someone who finished fourth was declared the winner after one individual reportedly wrote more than 300 results.

“Justice has finally prevailed. This was the same thing that happened when one person wrote more than 300 results, causing someone who came fourth to become number one,” Okorocha said.

The former governor expressed appreciation to the Nigerian judiciary, adding that the judgment showed that the Presidency was tired of what he described as impunity.

He said, “I appreciate the Nigerian judiciary, and it is evident that the Presidency is tired of this nonsense.”

Okorocha also urged his supporters in Imo West to remain calm and celebrate the development, describing the ruling as a victory for justice.

The judgment comes amid a dispute over the APC’s senatorial ticket for Imo West ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the court’s decision placing Okorocha at the centre of the contest.
