Governor Seyi Makinde has extended the 24-hour curfew imposed on 10 local government areas in Oyo State by an additional 24 hours, as security agencies continue operations around the Old Oyo National Park.
The extension was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, and made available to journalists through the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
The curfew, which was initially imposed for 48 hours, will now remain in force until Saturday, June 27, 2026.
The affected local government areas are Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba.
The state government had earlier imposed the restriction following heightened security concerns around the Old Oyo National Park.
The park has recently drawn public attention amid reports that students and teachers abducted in the area are being held within the forest reserve.
The extension is expected to allow security operatives more time to sustain ongoing operations aimed at restoring peace and ensuring the safe rescue of the victims.
Residents of the affected local government areas have been urged to comply fully with the curfew while security agencies continue efforts to address the situation.
