‘Join APC Now, There’s No Opposition Left,’ Ex-Taraba Deputy Governor Tells Atiku, Obi

ABUJA — A former Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Armayau Abubakar, has urged opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that there is no viable opposition capable of challenging President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, Abubakar, who currently serves as a Federal Character Commission Commissioner, described the opposition as fragmented and ineffective, arguing that the APC has established overwhelming political dominance across the country.

According to him, President Tinubu’s achievements are evident, leaving the opposition with little basis for criticism.

“My message to the opposition is that this is the right time to join the winning party, the APC. Tinubu’s achievements are very glaring. What can the opposition say against Mr. President? I believe there is nothing,” he said.

Using a biblical analogy, Abubakar likened the APC to “Noah’s canoe,” urging opposition figures to board what he described as the nation’s winning political platform.

He further pointed to the APC’s control of several state governments, the National Assembly, and many state Houses of Assembly as evidence of the party’s growing influence.

“We have almost all the governors with us, members of the National Assembly with us, and members of the state Houses of Assembly. These are major stakeholders, and they show that the APC has the support of Nigerians. I don’t see any reason why President Tinubu will not secure a second term,” he added.

Abubakar also dismissed the opposition’s electoral prospects, comparing the APC to the Atlantic Ocean while describing the opposition as insignificant by comparison.

Echoing his position, Dayo Fasola, National Women Leader of the Renewed Hope People Advocacy and an APC women advocate, said the absence of a coordinated opposition had made efforts to secure President Tinubu’s re-election considerably easier.

“The opposition is more or less non-existent. They are not coordinated, and it’s unfortunate. But when God wants to complete your mission, He makes it easy. There is zero opposition,” Fasola said.
