Nigerian rapper, actor and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has urged Nigerians to actively participate in the 2027 general elections, stressing that voting remains the most effective way to hold political leaders accountable.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Tuesday, Falz said Nigerians must become more determined and vocal in demanding good governance, adding that many citizens are yet to fully channel their frustration into meaningful political action.
According to him, politicians’ efforts to influence election outcomes through vote-buying and other tactics are clear indications that every vote counts.
“We’re not enraged enough. We need to react more,” he said. “A lot of times we speak truth to power and point fingers, but we also have to challenge ourselves.”
The entertainer particularly encouraged first-time voters to register and participate in the electoral process, noting that politicians would not go to great lengths to manipulate elections if votes were insignificant.
“The most important people for this are first-time voters. If our votes didn’t matter, politicians would not be doing everything within their power to try and influence results. If votes didn’t matter, there would not be vote buying,” he said.
Falz further argued that a massive voter turnout in support of a common cause would make it difficult for electoral outcomes to be manipulated.
“If there is an overwhelming majority of people moving in a certain direction, it will be impossible for them to cheat,” he added.
He called on Nigerians to remain engaged in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting that sustained civic participation is essential for strengthening accountability and deepening democracy.
