The founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has warned internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, against bringing proceeds from their activities into the church as offerings.
Ibiyeomie issued the warning during a church service while condemning internet fraud and expressing concern that some individuals continued to engage in the practice despite being active members of churches.
The pastor said some Yahoo boys had become comfortable with proceeds obtained by defrauding others, describing internet fraud as outright stealing.
“Yahoo is stealing. Is it your money? I don’t care how you paint it, Yahoo is stealing,” he said.
He specifically warned those involved in internet fraud who attend his church against giving money obtained through fraudulent means as offerings.
“In this church, if you’re a Yahoo, you will go to another church and give your offering. I don’t care how much you have,” Ibiyeomie said.
The pastor also recounted the case of a professor at Rivers State University who he said lost his savings after being defrauded and subsequently collapsed and died.
He urged people who associate with internet fraudsters to distance themselves from the practice, stressing that fraud causes serious harm to victims and should not be supported or encouraged.
