Veteran Nollywood actor Femi Adebayo has appealed to Nigerians and well-wishers to help secure urgent medical assistance for veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who is reportedly battling stage-four cancer.

Adebayo made the emotional appeal in a post on his official X account, urging individuals with connections to reputable hospitals, oncologists and advanced cancer treatment centres to assist the Hassan family.

He clarified that the family is not seeking financial donations but medical expertise and access to facilities capable of reviewing Hassan’s medical records and exploring further treatment options.

“Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer,” Adebayo said.

According to him, the family is seeking medical professionals and facilities in Nigeria and abroad that can assess Hassan’s condition and advise on possible treatment options.

“As shared by his family, they are NOT looking for money or financial support. What they urgently need is medical direction,” he added.

Adebayo specifically appealed to people within the oncology and healthcare sectors to connect the family with specialists and institutions that may be able to take on the actor’s case.

The appeal follows separate pleas from Hassan’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, who recently sought assistance for their father.

Kira disclosed that Hassan is battling stage-four cancer and said the hospital currently treating him had indicated that it could no longer continue with chemotherapy.

Lima, in a separate appeal, also stressed that the family was seeking medical intervention rather than financial support, urging anyone who could recommend a suitable medical facility to come forward.

Adebayo urged Nigerians to amplify the appeal until it reaches the individuals or institutions capable of providing the needed assistance.

“If you know someone who knows someone in the oncology space, or a medical avenue that can assist, please help reach out to his family immediately,” he said.

“Let’s share this until it reaches the right hands!”

Hassan, 66, is one of the most prominent figures in Yoruba-language cinema, with a career spanning more than four decades and appearances in hundreds of films.

His reported health condition has sparked concern among colleagues, fans and well-wishers, with the latest appeals focused on finding additional medical expertise and treatment options for the veteran actor.
