Bruno Fernandes’ Home Burgled While Man United Captain Was in Italy

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes’ home was reportedly burgled while the midfielder was in Italy with his team, with police launching an investigation into the incident.

According to ESPN, the burglary occurred on Wednesday, October 21, while Fernandes was away for Manchester United’s 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League. His family were not believed to have been at the property when the incident happened.

Cheshire Police said officers were called to an address in the Alderley Park area of Nether Alderley at about 8:30 p.m. following reports of suspicious activity.

According to the police statement, a caller reported seeing three unidentified men in the rear garden of a neighbouring property.

Although officers found no trace of the suspects upon arrival, they discovered that a burglary had taken place and several items had been stolen.

“An investigation into the incident has been launched and enquiries are ongoing,” the police said.

Detective Inspector David Jarvis of Macclesfield Proactive CID said the investigation was still at an early stage, adding that officers were working to identify those responsible.

Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area at the time to come forward. Residents with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage have also been urged to assist the investigation.

Manchester United are reportedly supporting their captain following the incident.

The burglary comes amid a difficult period for the Premier League club, whose 4-1 defeat to Como extended their winless run to seven matches across all competitions.

Fernandes also reportedly questioned head coach Michael Carrick’s tactical approach following the defeat, particularly the decision not to press opponents man-to-man and the space left behind the team’s defensive line.

His comments followed criticism from United defender Lisandro Martínez the previous week, adding to the scrutiny surrounding the club’s performances and leadership.

Despite the disappointing result and growing questions about Carrick’s position, the manager is expected to remain in charge for Manchester United’s Premier League fixture against Bournemouth on Sunday, according to ESPN.

Fernandes, who was among United’s standout performers last season, has struggled to reproduce the same level of form this campaign as the club faces increasing pressure to improve its results.
