Kogi Central senator shares WhatsApp screenshot she says shows a request for newspapers and blogs to run the content
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) has accused the camp of Senate President Godswill Akpabio of trying to spread damaging material against her through the media.
She made the claim in a Facebook post after social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) circulated a video about her. Alongside the post, she shared a screenshot of what she described as a WhatsApp conversation containing a link to the video. In the message, the sender allegedly asked which national dailies and blogs could publish the content, saying they needed about five outlets and wanted to know the cost.
Addressing the Senate President directly, Akpoti-Uduaghan wrote that media houses were free to “take the envelope” and publish whatever his office sends them. She added a warning: “the pits you dig for me, you shall very well fall into.”
The senator did not name the person behind the alleged conversation, and she offered no independent evidence of who started it. The authenticity of the screenshot has not been verified, and there was no immediate response from Akpabio’s office.
The latest exchange adds to a long-running feud between the two lawmakers that began in 2025 over a dispute about her seating arrangement in the Senate. It escalated when Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of sexual harassment and victimisation, which he denied. The Senate later suspended her for alleged breaches of its rules, a decision that drew widespread reaction.
