The governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Enugu State, Ray Kene Ogbodo, has vowed to pursue all legal avenues to resolve the omission of his name from the list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Ogbodo, who reacted through his media aide, Hon. Don Victor, described the development as a temporary setback, insisting that it would not weaken his determination to contest the election.
His name was reportedly missing from INEC’s recently published list of candidates for the Enugu State governorship election.
Other prominent candidates on the list included Governor Peter Mbah of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Uche Nnaji of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Ocho Obodoeze of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Reacting to the development, Ogbodo assured his supporters and residents of Enugu State that he remained committed to his governorship ambition.
“Let me assure our numerous supporters and the good people of Enugu State that we remain focused, determined, and firmly committed to the 2027 governorship race,” he said.
The PRP candidate explained that he was working with his party and INEC to address the issue in accordance with the law, expressing optimism that the matter would be resolved.
“Although my name was not included in the recently published INEC list, we are taking the necessary steps with our party and the electoral commission to resolve the issue in accordance with the law. We remain hopeful of a positive resolution,” he stated.
Ogbodo acknowledged that the pursuit of political change could come with challenges but maintained that the development would not derail his plans for the state.
“Our determination remains unshaken, and our commitment to a better future for Ndi Enugu remains stronger than ever. We are still on course for Enugu 2027,” he added.
He urged PRP members and supporters to remain calm, peaceful and united while the party pursued the matter through the appropriate legal and electoral channels.
Ogbodo reiterated his commitment to the 2027 governorship race, expressing confidence that the issue surrounding his omission would be addressed through the ongoing efforts.
