Operatives of the Mowe Division of the Ogun State Police Command have dismantled an alleged illegal baby factory in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state, arresting six suspects and rescuing two pregnant women and four children.
The operation was carried out on Monday at Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, following efforts by the command to tackle human trafficking and child exploitation across the state.
The rescued women were identified as 23-year-old Ilesanmi Foluke, who was seven months pregnant, and 20-year-old Ejekwa Melody.
The six suspects arrested comprised three females and three males. They were identified as Florence Glory Ogbona, 58; Magdalene Julius, 63, an attending nurse; Oseni Kusamotu Idaya; Chidike Egwuonwu, 40; Onyechu Chidike, 35; and Stephen Ogbona, 39.
The police said the operation forms part of its ongoing efforts to disrupt human trafficking networks and protect vulnerable women and children in Ogun State.
The rescued victims and suspects are expected to assist investigators as the police continue their investigation into the alleged activities of the syndicate.
